Doctor by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with the thesis Estudio de los factores y los resultados de la innovación tecnológica de producto y de proceso de las empresas del grupo industrial de Mondragón corporación cooperativa 2006. Supervised by Dr. Pere Escorsa Castells.

Doctor of Engineering from the UPC, Engineer specialising in Industrial Organisation and holding an MSc in Applied Sciences (M.Sc.A.) both from the Engineering School of Montreal and Mechanical Engineer from MU. In the field of industry, Jabier Retegi has worked for different periods as Industrial Manager, R&D and Innovation Manager, Strategic Alliance Manager and Chairperson of the Governing Board in a multinational. He has also been a member of the Permanent Committee of Mondragon Corporation and on the Board of different companies such as Ikerlan, CIC Energigune and CECED (European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers). He has also pursued activities in the academic field, having been lecturer at the Department of Industrial Organisation (Area of Lean Production), Lifelong Learning Manager and General Manager at the MU Engineering School, as well as a member of the Governing Board of Mondragon Unibertsitatea. He currently combines his professional work at Mondragon Unibertsitatea and at Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness as a lecturer and person in charge of projects related to industry. He works as a consultant in a range of fields related to industry, such as business strategy, the relationship between business and value chains, supplier development processes, industrial management, research and development and innovation.
