• Technical Mechanical Engineer from the Technical Engineering School of Mondragón (attached to the UPV) in 1986. • Industrial Engineer from INSA Lyon (France) in 1988. • PhD from the University of Nantes in 2003: Modélisation numérique de la coupe: étude de sensibilité des paramètres d'entrée et indentification du frottement entre outil-copeau. • Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering: machining processes in the doctorate, master's and degree programs at Mondragon Unibertsitatea and in the master's program at the University of Mons (Belgium). • He has been Visiting Professor at ENISE in Saint Etienne - France (2019, 2015, 2011), Trinity College Dublin-Ireland (2011), WZL Aachen-Germany (2009), and C.R.I.T.T. A.M.I.F.O.P. in Bar-Le-Duc- France (1992). • He has 3 recognized research ikertramos and 1 teaching evaluation of teaching staff (DOCENTIA). • Head of the Machining Research Group of Mondragon Unibertsitatea (Excellence Group A, Reference since 2000: IT1443-22) (www.mondragon.edu/mar). • Between 1999 and 2003 he held various administrative posts as a member of the Governing Council of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the Faculty of Engineering. He was also a member of the Faculty of Engineering Supervisory Committee of Mondragon Unibertsitatea. • He has supervised the research of 27 doctoral theses and more than 120 master's and bachelor's/technical engineering theses. He is currently supervising 8 doctoral theses. • He has participated in 23 doctoral thesis tribunals. • He has an H index of 30 (WoS) and has published over 350 articles and 3 book chapters. • He has given more than 10 keynotes and invited papers ("Recent Advances in Modelling of Metal Machining Processes", "Broaching: cutting tools and machine tools for manufacturing high-quality features in components",....). • He is a member of the Editorial Board of several peer-reviewed journals such as IJMTM and CIRP JMST. • Research interests: fundamentals of cutting, modeling of machining processes, surface integrity, process monitoring, environmental impact of machining, finishing of additive manufacturing components. • He has participated in more than 100 scientific and industrial projects (EU, national, and regional) having been the PI in several of them. He is currently involved in M4STRO (HE), REMANET (HE), Modul4r4R (HE), Tailorsurf (PI, Knowledge Generation, MCI), Braketor (Hazitek-GV), Hegema (Hazitek-GV), Opera (Hazitek-GV), NG22 (Elkartek-GV), Ekoprop (Elkartek-GV),.... • Coordinator of collaborative research agreements with the companies ITP Aero and CIC Nanogune. • He has been granted 3 patents (Method for obtaining vibration modes, temperature measurement in drilling, Online measurement of component distortions) and an I.P.R. (Finite element model of the chip formation process). • He has been a Fellow Member of CIRP since 2018. He is currently vice-chair of the Machining Technical Scientific Committee and a member of the Membership and Coordination Committee in between technical committees (https://www.cirp.net/scientific-groups/stc-scientific-technical-commitees/stc-c-cutting.html). • He is also a member of EFFRA, the French Titanium Association, the Spanish Manufacturing Society (SIF), and the Spanish Manufacturing Platform (Manu-Ket). • He was the chairman of the 12th CIRP Congress Modelling of Machining Operations (Donostia-San Sebastian, 2009) and Co-chairman of the 71st CIRP General Assembly (Bilbao, 2022), 5th CIRP Surface Integrity Congress (first CIRP online conference, 2020) and the 22nd ESAFORM Conference (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2019). • On 20 October 2022 the Francqui Foundation awarded him a Francqui Chair at the University of Mons (Belgium) (https://web.umons.ac.be/gmec/en/research-activities/francqui-chair-2022-2023/).
