Our society is rapidly changing due to the dynamic environments around. This fact makes society demand citizens more capable to respond to the upcoming challenges. Specifically, companies increasingly demand from their workers higher technical skills combined with competencies such as communication, teamwork or leadership. These competences have also been identified of great relevance in the New Product Development (NPD) field. In fact, many researches related to success factors of new products mention leadership, interfuncional teamwork or communication as determinants of new product success. This paper presents the framework adopted in Mondragón Goi Eskola Politeknikoa (MGEP) for NPD education. The main goal of the proposed framework is to guarantee developing in our students both technological skills and the mentioned competences within this particular field. That is, maintaining technical skills related objectives, the challenge lies in achieving the objectives set for the aforementioned competencies. Specifically, this paper describes the adopted framework in the basis of four basic aspects. First, and as mentioned before, the application context relies in the field of NPD. Second, the used didactic method is described, which is based in the Project Based Learning methodology. Third, different roles adopted by lecturers in within this methodology are described. And last, the role played by the students themselves in this learning process is described. In this way, we foster enhancing in our students a higher development both at a technical and componential level, so that they have a higher capacity to successfully undertake NPD.
