Abstract

Due to the effect of globalisation, innovation will become more and more important for the enterprises so that they obtain competitive advantages with respect to their competitors. The general definition for innovation is open and neutral regarding the content of the change. There are a lot of innovation types: of a product, of a process or of management systems. The alternatives which best meet the specifications of a client are chosen in the conceptual design stage of a product. Once the best design alternatives are chosen, these ones must be developed in detail. It is for this reason that it would be very useful to have a method which helps chose the ideas taking into account their innovative potential. The objective of this communication is to develop a method which would help identify the innovative potential of a conceptual design.
