Resumen

This Chapter is about the comparison between the theoretical and practical modes of propagation of Lamb waves on a steel plate of 5mm and generated by piezoelectric transducers which are part of an ultrasonic system capable of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals. With LabView (National Instruments) as development platform the development of a virtual instrument with which is performed the acquisition, control, processing and monitoring of the signals obtained is achieved. In addition to the integration of modules of Fourier algorithms to obtain the relationship between the frequency and the phase velocity (Rayleigh-Lamb theory) whose graphical representation is called dispersion curve, which is the way in which the particles move through the material thereby obtaining the theoretical and practical contrasting which was previously mentioned. This experiment can be used in a process of quality control or structural analysis because it provides the user with some indicators which indicate that the analysis under some specifications fulfill the design requirements.
