Resumen

This study was intended to describe how students seek the information they need for academic purpose. The study was carried out at Mondragon University (The Basque Country, Spain). Quantitative data was collected using a questionnaire with information searching tasks and opinion items. Qualitative data was collected through five different focus groups. Participants were 140 students and 22 of their teachers. Findings suggest that students have difficulties when searching the information they need, are less competent searching information than what they think, only use the Google search engine, do not seek information in English and seek information in a similar way to the berrypicking model.
