Resumen

In recent decades the nature of knowledge and how to organize the scientific and technological activity are changing. Our analysis strategy argues that the evolution of science and technology policies also reveals the broader interactions between science, innovation and society. Our paper distinguishes between different canonical models arising from the indicators on science and technology in the OECD reports, discusses the main determinants that drive the emergence of new indicators and analyzes changes in the ways to generate, guide and evaluate the scientific and technological activity. The results suggest that the new organization of science is conditioned by the language of competitiveness and economic growth that now affects all decisions of science and technology policies. The article also concluded that another important factor is the role that economists are developing in discussions on science policy and technological innovation.
