Resumen
In an 1nformation Society, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the competence to loca te, evaluate, and use information effectively. In this way, citizens become prepared for lifelong learning, beca use they can always find the information needed for any task or decision at hand. This study was intended to understand how university students evaluate information found on the Internet. The study was carried out at Mondragon University (Basque Country). Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire with information searching tasks and opinion items. Qualitative data were collected thraugh five different focus groups. Participants were students and their teachers. Findings suggest that when evaluating the information on the Internet, students mainly check if the information is updated, where that information has been published and how the document looks like.
